PECAN SPRINGS KARST PRESERVE

Donated to Hill Country Conservancy in 2012, the Pecan Springs Karst Preserve boasts 1,205 acres in the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone,
and is home to 19 species of Greatest Conservation Need. Protecting the karst preserve helps protect water quality and water supply in the Edwards Aquifer, a critical water source for Central Texas.

NALLE BUNNY RUN WILDLIFE PRESERVE

The 35-acre Nalle Bunny Run Wildlife Preserve is not only an environmental treasure, but an important habitat restoration project. The preserve was donated to Hill Country Conservancy in December 2000 and is named for Anne Byrd Nalle. Mrs. Nalle wished for years to preserve her beloved “Bunny Run” for the public to enjoy.

THE VIOLET CROWN TRAIL

Image

The Violet Crown Trail is the first regional trail system in Central Texas. Established in 2006, the trail now spans 13 miles between Zilker Park and the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Once complete, the 30-mile trail will provide a unique recreational experience as it passes through the urban wildlands of the Barton Creek Wilderness Park, the City of Sunset Valley, City of Austin Water Quality Protection Lands, and eventually into Hays County.

240-Acre Ranch Protected Next to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
Hill Country Conservancy (HCC) has permanently protected Muckleroy Ranch, a 240-acre property bordering Enchanted Rock State Natural Area—one of the most iconic natural landmarks in the Texas Hill Country. Through a conservation easement held by HCC, the ranch will remain protected as open land and wildlife habitat for generations to come.
