MONARCHS
The iconic Monarch butterfly is facing a sharp population decline as the climate warms and more open spaces are threatened. Your gift protects the habitat and native plants these beautiful black and orange butterflies need to survive.
GOLDEN-CHEEKED
WARBLER HABITAT
The Golden-cheeked Warbler is the only bird that migrates to Central Texas each year to nest exclusively in this region. Its very existence depends on protecting old-growth Ashe juniper trees, as the bark is this little songbird's favorite nesting material. By symbolically adopting a Golden-cheeked Warbler's habitat, you will help protect this endangered species and the natural resources on which it depends.
FRESHWATER SPRING
The freshwater springs that bubble up throughout the Hill Country create the headwaters for our region's creeks, streams, and drinking water sources. Your symbolic adoption of a freshwater spring will protect these precious water sources by conserving land in and around the aquifer recharge zone.
KARST CAVE
Karst limestone caves provide a conduit for surface water to flow directly into the groundwater aquifers, from which we derive our drinking water. However, the limestone presents little filtering opportunity, so chemicals and pesticides can also easily infiltrate the water supply. Your symbolic adoption will conserve land around these caves to protect our drinking water from environmental hazards.
