ABOUT NALLE BUNNY RUN WILDLIFE PRESERVE

The 50-acre Nalle Bunny Run Wildlife Preserve is not only an environmental treasure but an important habitat restoration project situated on the banks of the Colorado River. The preserve was donated to Hill Country Conservancy in December 2000 by the Nalle Family, who wished for years to preserve the beloved “Bunny Run” for the public to enjoy. The conservation management of this preserved Lake Austin waterfront and its proximity to Austin make the Nalle Bunny Run Wildlife Preserve a visual and environmental masterpiece. Learn more.

ABOUT ANDREW HARROD

Andrew Harrod grew up in Austin and spent a good part of his childhood fishing and hiking in its parks. As a teenager, he lived for six months on the banks of the San Marcos River where he discovered his passion for birding which has continued to this day. All of the time spent outside helped him forge a deep connection to nature which led to him attending Texas A&M University for his bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences.

After graduating, Andrew worked for a couple of years at an environmental field trip destination, before moving on to teach K-12 science locally for 13.5 years. Last year, Andrew worked for Austin Water Wildland Conservation Division, where he organized some of the volunteer activities on the Water Quality Protection Lands and the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. Currently, he works for Texas Wildlife Association where he travels to schools and presents lessons on natural resources.

Andrew joined the Capital Area Master Naturalists in 2019 and has enjoyed helping run and assist some of their classes. During the pandemic, he fell hard for native plants and leads plant walks when he gets a chance.
