National Public Lands Day at Pecan Springs Karst Preserve

Join us at the beautiful Pecan Springs Karst Preserve for National Public Lands Day! We can’t wait to share this special place with you.

We’ll start our morning at 9AM with an Honoring the Land Ceremony led by the Indigenous Cultures Institute. Afterward, we’ll set off on a guided tour of some of the special places on the Preserve. And for the super early birds, you can start your morning with a guided birding & nature walk.

Preserve Tour (10AM-12PM)

Enjoy a karst geology walk with karst and native plant expert Richard Zarria, explore part of an extraordinary bat cave with Bat Conservation International’s Fran Hutchins, and learn about our aquifers and streams with HCC’s Director of Science and Stewardship, Rachael Lindsey! The tour will require walking a total of about 1.5 miles (at an easy pace), and guests will also be transported in the back bed of a pickup truck.

Optional Pre-Event Birding Walk (7:45AM-8:45AM):

Are you an early riser? Add on a ticket for the Birding Walk to join Master Naturalist Mikael Behrens for an early morning stroll and learn about some of the bird species living on and migrating through the Preserve.
