Trail Building at Nalle Bunny Run Wildlife Preserve

Hill Country Conservancy is looking for 20 volunteers to help build a nature trail at Nalle Bunny Run Wildlife Preserve—a 50 acre permanently protected tract of land situated on the banks of lake Austin just south of the Pennybacker Bridge. While primarily managed for the benefit of songbirds, small mammals, and for migratory, wintering and breeding waterfowl, Nalle Bunny Run is an easily accessible urban example of Hill Country Conservancy’s larger land conservation work throughout the beautiful Texas Hill Country. With the addition of a trail, Hill Country Conservancy can better utilize the preserve’s unique ecology to educate the community about the irrefutable and vital connection between land conservation and our local water supply. Volunteers will cut a new path (approximately 2,000 feet) through a sandy prairie and riparian corridor adjacent to Lake Austin using hand tools and string trimmers. Lunch, water, snacks and all necessary tools will be provided by Hill Country Conservancy.
