Rolling green hills, blue water springs, and violet sunsets form a shimmering crown over the most perfect land there ever was – the Hill Country is a setting like no other. At the crossroads of northern plains, arid desert, and rich soil, its limestone and live oaks create a rugged landscape that is distinctly Texan. And since the Hill Country was first settled, generations of Texans have built cities and towns in harmony with its natural beauty. Now it’s up to us to continue that tradition.

Capital Campaign

$12,510,631

velowayOn May 1, 2014 Hill Country Conservancy embarked upon its most ambitious fundraising campaign to date: a capital campaign to raise $13,125,000 in three years. This campaign is comprehensive meaning that every dollar raised by HCC within the three year campaign time frame goes towards that lofty goal. To date, HCC has raised almost $12,500,000 in gifts and pledges. We hope you will join us!

The Violet Crown Trail will traverse a 30-mile corridor of urban parks and rural natural areas from Lady Bird Lake and Zilker Park into Hays County, and will provide recreational and educational experiences for people of all ages. By connecting to community-defining landmarks like Barton Springs Pool and the Butler Hike and Bike Trail, the completed Violet Crown Trail will be a jewel in the Central Texas trail network. Its scope, ambition, and lasting impact on our community make the Violet Crown Trail the project of a generation. Contributing to its success means leaving the legacy of a lifetime.

The first phase of trail construction began in 2014. Beginning in March 2015, the Texas Conservation Corp began installing new mile marker and wayfinding sign posts on the main trail of the Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail/Violet Crown Trail system. The first six miles of this trail system, from Zilker Park to Brodie Lane at Highway 290, officially opened to the public in August of 2015.

Fill out and return the pledge form to become part of the legacy of donors.
